How To Avert Your Breaking Point

She was standing there when the pressure, anger and frustration reached a boiling point. Suddenly, tears began streaming down her face. The demands of everyone else became irrelevant and she began to wonder why she had reached this point. Had there been signs that were simply ignored, overlooked, or dismissed? More importantly, how could she keep herself from reaching or being pushed to her breaking point?
Feeling like you want to scream at the top of your lungs, run away or just drop everything and curl up into a ball on the floor are all signs that you’re headed toward an emotional meltdown. The good news is emotional meltdown do not happen overnight. They are usually a buildup of overwhelming frustration.
Here are some warning signs you are reaching your breaking point and how to avoid an emotional meltdown:

Easily irritated and snap at others – Sometimes adults need to give ourselves a time-out. Go for a walk, get some fresh air or even meditate.
Having trouble sleeping – Keep a notepad by your bed to journal. Journaling gives you the opportunity to let out your frustration without the fear of anyone judging you. Write whatever, whenever you want.
Starting to withdraw from others – Reach out to family and friends and let them know you are going through a difficult time. Let them help you by being there and offering a fresh perspective.
Low or no self- esteem – Exercise is a great way to elevate your mood, boost your confidence and gain self-worth.
Brain Fog – Be kind to yourself and give yourself permission to take a break, work on easier tasks, or delegate.
Identify the root of your problems – Ask yourself “What is really bothering me? or “Why is this bothering me? Then answer the questions truthfully.
